For great American food in a festive atmosphere, look no further than Cribbs Kitchen in Spartanburg. Cribbs is known for its sandwiches and burgers, but it also features salads, starters, shakes and specialty cocktails. Some of the most popular menu items are the C.K. Cuban sandwich, made with local RJ Rockers stout honey mustard, and the Barnyard Burger, made with a lamb, beef and bacon blended burger. On the lighter side, the warmed bread board is a terrific appetizer. It comes with goat cheese, jalapeno ham, peach preserves, pest, local honey, and fresh-baked bread. The Asian noodle salad is also a delicious option and is served with a cilantro lime vinaigrette. Whatever you order at Cribbs Kitchen, you will not be disappointed.
Le Spice Restaurant and Bakery
Le Spice Restaurant and Bakery is known as one of the best restaurants in Spartanburg. It is a very unique fusion of French and Thai food, that somehow comes together beautifully. Le Spice serves breakfast and lunch Tuesday through Sunday from 8 AM to 3 PM. The French influences are seen in many of its bakery items and crepes, while many of its sandwiches and entrees have Thai origins, such as the incredible Bangbang Banh Mi sandwich and the Duck Bun. Le Spice also features a “Make Your Own Plate” section of the menu where you choose a protein, two sides, and a sauce. Everything is good, but the duck is out of this world, and you cannot leave without having some fresh-baked bread. I first tried Le Spice while waiting for my car to be serviced at a nearby windshield replacement Spartanburg SC shop. I had such a great experience and enjoyed the food so much that I didn’t even want to leave once my car was ready. Whether you’re a local or are just passing through, Le Spice is a must-try restaurant.
Pokenori may very well be Spartanburg’s most unique restaurant. The restaurant puts a new twist on sushi by offering it in burrito-form, and also features Hawaiian poké bowls. Pokenori uses fresh, quality raw fish and other ingredients at affordable prices. You can choose from signature items or customize your own burrito or bowl. At Pokenori, there is truly something for everyone, even if you’re not a fan of sushi. You can’t go wrong with the Pokenori classic, made with ahi tuna, romaine lettuce, sweet onion, cucumber, sesame seeds, and fresh ponzu sauce. There are also burritos and bowls featuring grilled eel, teriyaki chicken, tofu, salmon and more. For a fun, new twist on sushi, check out Pokenori in Spartanburg.
The Crepe Factory
The Crepe Factory Creperie & Coffee House is one of Spartanburg’s best new restaurants. It is a locally owned and operated business that opened in Spartanburg’s Morgan Square in 2016. Since then, The Crepe Factory has made a name for itself, due to its delectable crepes, gourmet coffee, and cozy atmosphere. It is a farm-to-table restaurant with only locally-sourced ingredients in every dish. The Crepe Factory also offers a variety of beer and wine that you can sip beside the fireplace or outside on the patio. The crepe menu is quite extensive, with a wide variety of breakfast crepes, sweet crepes, and savory crepes to choose from. The café also offers salads and pastries, gluten-free items, and is available for catering. For amazing crepes and coffee, you can’t go wrong with The Crepe Factory.
For traditional Caribbean and Cuban food, Caribbean Sweetness tops the list. It is easy to miss from the outside, but the interior is inviting and unique, and there is a lovely patio as well. The menu includes sandwiches such as the Cubano (Cuban) and Medianoche (Midnight) which come with your choice of plantain, casava, or potato chips. Entrees come with a choice of meat—barbacoa beef, salsa chicken, pork mojo, picadillo beef, jerk chicken, and spicy pork—all of which are delicious, and three sides. It is an enormous amount of food for under ten dollars. If you love Caribbean food or just want to try a new type of cuisine, Caribbean Sweetness is the place for you.
